Yoga and Oriental Philosophy Reading List

Autobiography of a Yogi by Paramahansa Yogananda is one of the most widely read books on the subject of yoga.

Bhagavad Gita several translations of this important book are suggested.  The Bhagavad Gita is the fundamental book describing both Buddhist and Hindu yoga practices

Dhammapada translated by Max Muller with annotations by Jack Maguire is by far the best rendering of this most beloved of all Buddhist scriptures.  It is to Buddhism what the Bhagavad Gita is to Hinduism.

Magical Tattwas  These are the Tattwa cards in full living color in an Adobe Acrobat PDF file.

Raja-Yoga by Swami Vivekananda is the guidebook for "The Royal Yoga" and suggested reading for all meditation students regardless of their spiritual path.

Spiritual Science of Kriya Yoga by Goswami Kriyananda is one of my personal favorites because it is so easy to read and understand.

The Tibetan Book of the Great Liberation  edited by W. Y. Evans-Wentz is probably the best translation of this book of dying and the transition period between lives.

Upanishads  various Upanishads translated by Goswami Kriyananda and Swami Prabhavananda are suggested reading for all meditation students.
